Artemis Human Capital is a founder-led, growing business based in Belfast City Centre, looking for an experienced and commercially minded Company Accountant to take full ownership of our finance function.


This is a strategic and hands-on role, ideal for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or a QBE professional who enjoys variety and autonomy.


You’ll oversee everything from bookkeeping, payroll, and VAT to management accounts and board reporting while working closely with the Managing Director to provide insight that drives smart decisions and sustainable growth.

You’ll also collaborate across the business to set budgets, improve efficiency, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full finance function, including bookkeeping, payroll, VAT and management reporting
  • Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including analysis and commentary 
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly board packs and, when required, present financial commentary to the board
  • Work closely with operations and business improvement teams to identify cost savings, support budgeting, and improve financial processes
  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
  • Oversee credit control and manage cash flow effectively
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
  • Conduct bank reconciliations in Xero and using bank statements
  • Liaise with external accountants regarding Corporation Tax, NIC payments and year-end accounts
  • Post monthly payroll journals and reconcile related accounts
  • Process staff expenses, ensuring appropriate approvals and VAT treatment (zero-rated, exempt, etc.)
  • Carry out banking duties, payments and reconciliations
  • Provide weekly financial updates and monthly reviews with the Managing Director (including P&L, spend and forecasts)


Experience:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or Qualified by Experience (QBE)
  • Demonstrable experience in a standalone finance role
  • Proven ability to produce management accounts, VAT returns and payroll
  • Proficient in Xero and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and HMRC compliance requirements
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and confidently
  • Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
